Apostille for International Adoption

March 28, 2008 · 3 comments

Are you in the process of adopting a child internationally? Often you are required to submit birth certificates, health records, verification of employment and more. The destination country may require the documents to be authenticated by the originating country prior to being accepted.

If your documents originated in California then they will require a California Apostille. The Document Diva has handled a number of apostilles for adoptions from Russia and India.

Please feel free to contact us at (562) 314-4319 for more information.

Successful Notary Tip #3 - Get A Website!

March 27, 2008 · 0 comments

.comIf you are a notary looking to get loan and non-loan notary work then you must have a website. People are using the web more and more to find professionals to do business with so why not make it easy for them to find you!

I have personally found that developing a website and learning how to optimize it for the web was one of the best things I could have done for my business. I frequently get calls from clients that have found me on the web. This easily adds an extra $500 a month to my income.

If you are apprehensive about where to start then I would suggest listing your profile in as places on the web that you can. Two of my previous blogs list directories that enable you list your profile for free. Here is a link to Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 of "Increase Your Web Presence For Free."

You can also do a Google search for "free directories" and you will never run out of places to list your profile.

If you decide to create a website yourself a good place to start is Freewebs.com. They have hundreds of templates to choose from, which are relatively easy to use. If you can get around Microsoft Word then you can make the most of Freewebs.

So get out there and start increasing your web presence!

It's Time to Renew My Notary License

March 21, 2008 · 0 comments

You would think after being a notary for four years the State of California would make renewing your license a little easier. Well, I am hear to report that unfortunately it has gotten even more complicated.

In order to renew your license as of January 1, 2008 you will need to do four things:
  1. Complete a state approved 6-hour training course
  2. Pass the 30 question notary exam
  3. Submit a new application along with a 2x2 passport picture
  4. Lastly, you must get re-fingerprinted so that the Secretary of State and the Department of Justice have your fingerprints on file
If you are renewing your license you do not want to wait until the last minute to do so, it is recommended that you give yourself 4-6 months before your license expiration. The whole process was nerve racking but I did find a few things that made my life a little easier.

First, I completed my 6-hour training online through Golden State Notary. Second, I was able to print my own passport photo thanks to ePassportPhoto.com. I just uploaded a digital picture of myself and the website did the rest. Thirdly, I started early so as not to risk my license expiring.

If your California notary commission is expiring this year start the renewal process as soon as possible to avoid the headaches.

It's Been A While...

Unfortunately, my last blog was almost a month ago, which has been far too long. Between the trouble with loosing my blog formatting and renewing my notary license my head has been in the clouds.

I hope I am back on track now so I look forward to blogging away.
