Successful Notary Tip #5 - Naming Your Business

Saturday, June 7, 2008 ·

If you've decided to start a notary business, either P/T or F/T, you will want to choose the right name for your business. Opt for a business name that represents you, the services you offer and preferably, a name that is memorable!

There have been times when customers lost my business card and Googled my business name in order to find me. Customers may forget my birth name, LaShon, but the name of my business, The Document Diva, makes an easy impression on their memory.

If you are thinking, "But I'm not that creative," then enlist family and friends for suggestions. Before you know it, you'll have a business name that's catchy and fits your business perfectly.

After you choose the name of your business do not forget to register for a DBA (doing business as) with your county. You may also want to consider a service mark with your state (if available) and then nationally, if it's in your budget. These steps will prevent others from stealing your idea.
