Can You Be Coached to Greatness?

May 28, 2007 ·

A professional athlete would never reach greatness without their coach helping them along the way. The coach teaches him/her the skills, rules and tactics involved in their particular sport. Practice sessions may consist of on-court demonstration and walkthroughs to learn plays and strategies.

Today, there are coaches in many professions, not just athletics. There are business, money, life, dating, career coaches and more. According to a Wikipedia definition a personal coach relationship is designed and defined by an agreement between the clients and coach. It is based on the client’s expressed interests, goals, and objectives. Clients are responsible for their own achievement and success. A coach cannot promise the client they will take any specific action or attain specific goals.

If you have decided to start a new business venture, hiring a coach or enlisting the help of a mentor can be invaluable to your ultimate success. Because a coach or mentor is more experienced, they can offer advice and wisdom to help you avoid the missteps they have encountered.

A new profession where coaching has developed is the loan signing business. Many longtime notary signing agents will tell you that when they first started as a signing agent they had to learn the do’s and don’ts strictly by trial and error. Now, through coaching a new notary can learn from someone more knowledgeable and experienced and therefore avoid mistakes.

A few areas a new loan agent might consider being coached in are what signing services to avoid contracting with, how much to charge, how to get work directly with escrow and title companies, how to get non-loan signing work, and most importantly, what to expect on your first appointment.

If you know a loan signing agent in your local area call them and ask if you can go along for a ride-a-long on one of their assignments. This real live experience will help you get over your initial fears and introduce you to what to expect.

To locate a notary coach in your near you can Google notary coach or notary ride-a-long, browse the many notary message boards, or talk to a signing agent you already know.

If you have invested your time and effort to achieve getting your notary commission and then to become a loan signing agent then it only makes sense to right direction with someone guiding you along the way. Happy signings!
